The State Training of Trainers (TOT) on Immunization Handbook for Medical Officer’s was conducted at RHFWTC Indore on 24th July – 26th July 17.

DIO’s of fifteen districts mainly of Indore and Ujjain division, four Zonal officers of Indore Urban, one Urban nodal officer of Bhopal district & eleven BMOs (from IMI District – Alirajpur and Jhabua) participated as trainees. Apart from DIOs & BMOs, two faculty members from Regional Health & Family Welfare Training Centre, Indore attended the training. National observer from NIHFW Ms. Pratibha Gandhi joined the training from day 2 onwards i.e. 25th July 17. MP State level faculty Dr O P Tiwari, DD Immunization had been a very enthusiastic facilitator all throughout the training. All these participants were divided into six different groups. Dr. Sandip Shinde - SRTL Jabalpur, Dr. Bhartiy Shekhawat - SMO Khargone, Dr. M S Rajawat – SMO Vidisha and Dr. Amit Gambhir - SMO Guna facilitated the training as per standards laid down in facilitators guide. The training was organized by RHFWTC, Indore within their office premises at training centre.

The participants were provided with necessary training material i.e. MO handbook, facilitators guide, handouts etc. After the end of each unit, participants went through the facilitators guide so that process of facilitation and adult training is replicated as it is during further role of training at divisional/ district level. Quality of training was further enhanced by robust post-training facilitators meeting to seek for opinion and next day’s session planning/preparation. The participants were encouraged to give positive comments as well as areas of improvement about the methodology of training.

Video Conference was held with WHO Country Office, New Delhi. RTL Central (from Pune), SEPIO MP (from Bhopal) and SRTL Bhopal (from Amdhra Pradesh). Short crisp succinct notes from Dr Machado (National RI Coordinator), Dr Pankaj Bhatnagar (NPO Immunization) and SEPIO MP Dr Shukla made the participants more confident about the RI ToT techniques and positive reply from trainees boosted the spirit of faculties on Day 2 of RI ToT.

The unique approach of question corner, wherein the participants wrote their questions and stick to the dedicated corner, has helped facilitators to stick to timeline of agenda as well as to solve the queries of participants. All the participants were very much appreciative of comfortable logistic arrangement! Role plays, group exercise, flip chart stickers/ card game and cold chain session of 4 stations corner discussion was the highlight of several modes of interactive/ participative training session conducted during the course.

Last day of training was supported by field visit so as to have hands on experience of the implementation aspect of technical discussion over 2 days period. Evaluation and discussion of pre-test and post-test FAQ’s has seen a remarkable progress at the end of the training session.
